Reading Week June 19 -25. 2024.
The city Kozhikode created history by becoming India's first city to be designated as a UNESCO City of Literature, recognized for its rich literary heritage and status as a cultural hub for literature
To recognize Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker's contributions June 19, 2024, marked the observance of the 28th National Reading, day at Silver Hills Higher Secondary school and following week was observed as Reading Week at Silver Hills Higher Secondary school. 
Reading Week in school is a initiative designed to encourage students to develop a love for reading. During the reading week, class libraries were unveiled by the principal Rev Fr John Mannarthara  CMI, Mr Manoj, Mr Shaji,  faculty malayalam, and school coordinator Mr Sasilal.
Book reviews by teachers were presented during the assembly during the reading week. By actively engaging in book reviews, teachers significantly contributed to a vibrant reading culture within the school, fostering a community of enthusiastic and critical readers. 
Reading is a crucial activity that offers numerous benefits, including relaxation, learning, concentration, and the improvement of communication skills.
A book fair by DC Books was held in the school auditorium from 25 to 28 June 2024, in observance of the Reading Week. This initiative was to promote a culture of reading in the students by offering them the opportunity to buy books of their choice
