Environment Day Celebration
The Environment Day celebration at Silver Hills Higher Secondary School was held on Thursday 5 June 2025 at 11.30 am with an inspiring line-up of events highlighting the importance of environmental protection and sustainability. The event brought together students staff and esteemed guests in a collective effort to raise awareness and take action for the planet.
The programme commenced with a thought-provoking skit presented by the Silver Hills Theatre group setting the tone for the day. This was followed by a meaningful speech by Diya Thomas who emphasized the urgent need for youth involvement in environmental conservation. Anushka P M added a melodious touch to the occasion with a soulful song.
The formal segment began with a warm welcome and introduction of the guest by Rev Fr John Mannarathara CMI Principal of Silver Hills HSS. The highlight of the event was the inaugural address and the unveiling of the Trail Eco Club logo by Dr Govinda Varma Raja former Head of the Department of Folklore Calicut University. His address motivated students to take ownership of environmental initiatives and remain connected to nature and traditional ecological wisdom.
As a symbol of commitment to environmental responsibility a sapling was planted and later distributed among attendees promoting the message of green living. Prize distribution followed recognizing the efforts of students who contributed to eco-related competitions and activities.
A memento was then presented to the chief guest in appreciation of his presence and valuable message. The event continued with an environmental oath led by Elton Jo Leroy Secretary of the Eco Club encouraging all to live sustainably. Felicitation was delivered by faculty member Benoy Joseph acknowledging the contributions of students and staff. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Charunainika A L Joint Secretary of the Eco Club who expressed gratitude to all who made the event a success.
The Environment Day celebration served as a reminder of the power of collective action and the vital role educational institutions play in fostering eco-conscious citizens. The event not only celebrated nature but also sowed seeds of responsibility and change in the hearts of the students.
